Here are some answers to our most frequently asked questions.

Q - What does my dog need to stay overnight or for the day at Pacific Paws?

A - Daycare and boarding dogs must be healthy, on a flea & tick prevention program, have current vaccinations, the owner must complete our Boarding Agreement, and the dog must pass our FREE 2-4 hour evaluation interview.

Q - Do you accept intact dogs for overnight boarding or daycare?

A - Yes, provided they pass our free social evaluation interview.

Q - Do I bring my dog's usual food & treats for overnight boarding?

A - Yes, we want to keep his regular diet.  Please write down his name on each container along with any needed medications.

Q - What are your hours?

A - Drop off and pick up hours are between 6:00am and 8:00pm daily.  Grooming 9am to 4pm daily.

Q - What is doggie daycare?

A - It's a place for dogs to play with other dogs, burn energy, and become better socialized with other dogs and people in a human led pack environment.  Great for behavioral improvements.

Q - Do you groom cats too?

A - Yes, we provide cat baths, hair cuts, nails, ears, and teeth.

Q - Do you accept "Pit Bulls" for boarding or daycare?

A - We welcome new "Pit Bull" and "Pit Bull Mix" dogs into our pack who are 6 months of age or younger and who will be committing to a regular daycare socialization program with us.  We feel that it's vital for this breed to acclimate to other dogs and people frequently and from an early age.  Pit Bulls and Pit Bull Mixes of all ages continue to be welcome to come for grooming.

Q- What standards of care do you follow?

A- We run our facility generally following the "best practices" set forth by the Pet Care Services Association and the UC Davis Veterinary School’s Koret program.  These collectively cover daily operations, cleaning, safety, and disease control.

Q - What is Kennel Cough?

A - Like children at school, when dogs gather to socialize, they share more than their company.  As with children’s colds, this interaction occasionally transmits an illness such as "kennel cough” or other infections.  Your dog can contract kennel cough anywhere they come into contact with other dogs - such as the dog park, on a walk meeting other dogs, the veterinarian's office, at the pet store, at the groomers, in a kennel, etc.

A healthy dog will usually weather a typical kennel cough very similarly to a human with a cold.  Symptoms typically last up to 10 days.  A very young, very old, or dog with a weakened immune system could develop more serious complications.

Pacific Paws requires all boarding and day care dogs to be immunized within 12 months of their stay and we disinfect our facility throughout the day.  However, immunization does not provide 100% prevention of all causes of kennel cough and agents immunized against mutate rapidly with time.  Pacific Paws will not admit a dog with kennel cough.  A dog which develops kennel cough during their stay with us will be isolated in quarantine and the owner contacted for discharge as soon as practical.  A veterinarian should be consulted by the owner as a precaution.

Download our Boarding Agreement.  All dogs subject to a FREE interview prior to first stay.
